So very sorry to hear you lost sweet Stephan - he is with you always just on the other side of the veil. "There is no death Only a change in worlds." - Chief Seattle
Thanks to everyone who stopped by and offered us a kind word that we so much needed this moment.
I cherish the moments we have had together with Stepan, some of them documented in this blog, now each post a precious memory. I truly want to believe that Stepan is now happy in a better place and perhaps we'll meet again one day. I trust that in this world too he lived a happy life and magically radiated good mood to everyone around.
I'm glad my kids got to meet him, and loved him deeply. Little by little tender exchanges developed between them, even if the ever cautious Stepan hesitantly approached them.
Stepan enriched our lives and for this I thank him. And will love him, always.
Hello, we just heard about Stepan. Even though we didn't know him, we can tell he was quite the handsome fellow. We send you comforting purrs and headbutts...
I just learned about your sweet Stepan, and what a beautiful boy he was.
I am so so sorry for your loss. He will have many of our fur siblings waiting to show him around on the Bridge while he and they wait for us to come and meet and claim them again, and they us, by and by.
I have just learned about Stepan. I am so so sorry. My half-brother, Grouik, left us for the Bridge one year ago almost exactly and I know how hard it is for both kitties and humans. I am sure that Grouik will welcome Stepan. We send lots of purrs from the kitties and hugs from the humans.
We are so very sorry to hear about the passing of your precious Stepan. Please know you are in our thoughts and purrayers during this very sad time. (((hugs))) XOXO Maggie May and The Creek Cats
I'm so sorry to hear the news about Stepan. I know you have so many good memories of your years together and this will help to carry you through this. Run young and free, beautiful boy!
We offer condolences in the loss of your beautiful Stephan Razin. We didn't know about him but think he would have made a friend to me and my Zkhat. Ann told us about him.
We did not know Stepan but heard that he had left you and we dropped by to say how very sorry we are that you lost such a handsome and beautiful friend. He will be watching over you for a long while. May your sadness soon turn to happy memories of your very special friend.
Once again, thank you all, your messages have all been wonderful and really supportive.
There is still a task at hand: the kids don't know about Stepan yet; They're away on vacation. I have read and researched a lot about how I should gently tell them Stepan is no longer with us, perhaps over a long period, when their memories of him will be softer. If you also have any suggestions on the best way to break the news, please share them here.
We did not know Stepan but we do understand the pain of losing a beloved animal. Sending you love and purrs and blessings. Thank you for loving him so much. xx
a BEAUTIFUL RUSSIAN CAT. We are sorry that we did not know Stepan during his lifetime and we understand your great sadness at losing your friend. If we had known him he would also have been our friend. We think he will be able to meet our beloved Diamond (Russian Blue) at the Rainbow Bridge and they can play together. Our thoughts are with you.
Stepan was a very handsome cat, so sorry for your loss. There are so many great cat blogs but so little time in the day to visit many. We hope the good times you had together will become loving memories till you are back together over the bridge. the CatStreetBoyz, ICE & MOM Holly

What a beautiful cat Stepan was. I am so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately this is one thing that is so hard in letting a cat own you, is when they have to depart. Purrs, hugs and prayers for you in your time of grief. Tell the children straight out what happened. It will hurt but time will ease the pain. I lost my sweet baby boy Casper over a year ago now. I remember him with fondness, but sometimes a tear will creep in there now and then. I'm just so thankful the Lord let me have such a beautiful creature that he had created come along and claim my heart. God Bless you.
I am sorry to read that you have lost your sweet Stepan. It is not easy getting through the early days of loss since that is when the wounds are most open. We lost our Girly (dog) 10 days ago and every time we pass a toy, a sleeping spot..or are reminded of a daily routine she is no longer part of, the tears flow again. We keep reminding ourselves that she had a good life with us ..and that we loved her during her time here..and that helps a little. We would do it all over again...even with the pain now.
Oh no! Stepan was such a beautiful cat. I know exactly how you feel now, because I lost my little Avalon yesterday. There are no words to describe this kind of sadness.
So sorry to hear of your loss of Stepan. He was a lucky cat to have a loving family. I wish they could live longer but they do leave us with wonderful memories.
I read about Stepan's passing on the Cat Blogosphere site. I want to offer my condolences. I wish there was a way words could make things better. Good luck to all there.
Hi, we're so sorry to hear about this. We are just getting back into blogging and are sorry we didn't get to know Stepan. We are sending many purrs and comforting thoughts to you.
Do you really wish you had a cat in your household but you cannot?
You may be allergic, travel a lot out of town, or have to live with cat haters. One way or another, you long for some feline perfection in your life...
I understand exactly how you feel. I was like you before I managed to start living with a cat. And cannot get enough of them ever since.
This blog is something like a public service; I try to give some of the goodness of life with a cat: the nice and (perhaps) the not-so-nice.
Our companion until July 2013 was the male (neutered) British Shorthair, called Stepan Razin. He had this Russian name because he was born there in Dec. 2005. He supposedly also had a pedigree but for us it was just another fun factor.
We will stay offline for a while to find comfort in silence until... perhaps a new furry friend finds his way to us. Still, if you visit from time to time you may find any unpublished photos of Stepan.
Your comments, suggestions, ideas, own stories are welcome!
I am so sorry that Stepan has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. He was a lovely cat and we always enjoyed his posts. He was a beautiful boy. I do not have words to express my sorrow. Know that we are here for you and know your hurt.
